COUNTY COUNCIL DISTRICT 3
Vicki Weger is on the Vigo County Council, representing the 3rd District. Although it’s a county council seat, it lies entirely inside the city of Terre Haute – basically from 7th Street on the west, Maple Avenue on the north, Fruitridge on the east, and Hulman on the south.

“I’m a journalist by trade,” she says. “I wrote a column for the Tribune-Star and worked as Assignments Editor at WTHI-TV for 16 years before moving to Chicago. I produced pieces for the PBS NewsHour and NBC Network News. My work with NBC eventually took me to Europe, Africa and Asia.

“My husband, Ted Elbert, was the Bureau Chief for NBC in Frankfurt, Germany, Paris, France, and Moscow, USSR.
“We eventually moved to Chicago for ten years and worked domestic network news around the nation, including the O.J. Simpson Murder Trial, the Arrest of the Unabomber, the Execution of Timothy McVeigh, etc.
“Upon retirement, we moved to Terre Haute, which we both loved with all our hearts. My husband died as the result of an accident in 2017.

“I felt my many experiences around the world would be of good use to our community so jumped into the political arena, filing a vacancy on the County Council. I fight on behalf of working men and women. I will always stand up for children and I will not be bullied. You will never have to wonder where I stand on an issue.

I humbly ask for your vote and I give you my word to that I will cast my vote with your best interest in my heart"
