As a lifelong resident of Terre Haute, Tonya Pfaff is committed to the ideals of family, education, and service as the foundation of a strong community.

Tonya graduated from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College with a bachelor’s degree and later earned a master’s degree from the University of Oklahoma. After completing her studies, she spent a year teaching English in Japan.
​
In 1994, Tonya married Chris Pfaff, an Indiana University graduate and U.S. Army officer. Together, they have four children: Griffin, Anne, Greta, and Kate. While raising their active family, Tonya continued her career as a math teacher at Terre Haute South, West Vigo High School, and Terre Haute North Vigo, retiring from the profession in 2025.

Tonya ran for her first elected office in 2018, focusing on strengthening public education in Indiana. She remains committed to supporting economic development and expanding opportunities throughout the region.
