COUNTY COUNCIL DISTRICT 1
My name is Kim Curley, and I've had the privilege of calling Vigo County home my entire life. My husband, Tim, and I have spent the past 31 years in the northern part of Terre Haute. We have two wonderful children: our son Brandon, who is married to Maddie, and they have a precious little boy, Brooks. Our daughter Lauren and her fiancé, Dominick, are set to marry this fall. Vigo County has always been our home, and we look forward to watching our grandchildren grow up here and continue to make memories in this special place.

I earned a Bachelor of Science degree followed by a Master’s degree in Elementary Education, building a strong academic foundation in both subject knowledge and instructional practice. In addition to completing my master’s program, I have pursued continued professional growth by earning 30 additional credit hours beyond my Master’s degree.

I have been a dedicated educator with the Vigo County School Corporation since 1989. Over the years, I have gained extensive experience working with diverse groups of students and collaborating with colleagues, families, and the community to support student success. My long tenure in the district reflects my commitment to education and the Vigo County community.

I am running for County Council because I care deeply about the future of our community and the people who call it home. Having been a lifelong resident, I have seen firsthand both the strengths we can build upon and the challenges we must address. I believe local government should be responsive, transparent, and focused on improving the quality of life for every resident.

I believe I am well-qualified for this role because of my deep roots in the community, my commitment to public service, and my ability to listen and lead with integrity. I understand the importance of fiscal responsibility, strong community values, and investing in the future. My goal is to represent all residents fairly and work toward solutions that benefit our entire county.

With a Master’s degree in Education and 37 years of experience as a teacher, I bring a unique perspective grounded in service, problem-solving, and long-term planning. My career has been dedicated to helping others succeed, managing resources effectively, and working collaboratively with diverse groups of people. These are the same skills needed to make thoughtful, responsible decisions on the County Council.
